Trainsure, is celebrating fifty years in business.
Bradford-based insurance broker, Trainsure, is celebrating fifty years in business. Trainsure, which is a division of Sydney Packett & Sons Ltd, is the UK’s leading providers of industry specific insurance cover to training companies.
As Wayne Cowley, Director, explains, Trainsure were the pioneers of this type of industry specific insurance back in the sixties. “’The Industrial Training Act’ came into force in 1964. It sanctioned Government funding so every industry in the UK had its own Training Board – from metal bashing engineers through to hair dressers. As it happened, the very first training board established was for the wool industry. Packetts were well known and had a good reputation in the textile trade, so it was entirely natural for the new training board to turn to them for insurance.”
Fifty years on, Trainsure provides insurance cover for around 600 training organisations including Prospects College, NETA, Seetec, as well industries such as construction, road haulage, motor vehicles, hotels, catering and care. Its knowledge and prowess means that Trainsure is one of the industry suppliers recommended by the Association of Employment and Learning Providers.
“Because we were in at the start, we’ve evolved with the industry. So we’re uniquely qualified to advise on and provide training industry specific insurance,” Wayne continues. “Our service includes cover for all the usual risks with specific focus on training industry issues such as learner liability and safe guarding. We also offer no obligation insurance audits.
“I think our success over the past fifty years comes down to our unrivalled experience, expertise, bespoke service and low staff turnover. I’ve been with the business for 21 years and I think this continues to help us to develop a real understanding of how the training industry works.”
To mark their anniversary year, Trainsure staff have a number of events and challenges lined up to raise money for local and national charities.
